Motion Removal in ElectroSpotmatic and SpotmaticMagic

What It Does

Motion Removal automatically removes moving objects (people, vehicles, reflections) from a sequence of images, leaving you with a clean shot of the static scene. This feature is perfect for architectural photography, capturing landmarks without crowds, or eliminating unwanted elements from your photos.

You can download test images for use with SpotmaticMagic from: Google Drive

When to Use It

Use Motion Removal when you want to:

Requirements: Minimum 3 images (more images = better results), static camera position (tripod highly recommended), moving objects that appear in some frames but not others

How to Capture Motion Removal Sequences

  1. Enable Motion Removal: Tap the exposure control ring, find and enable the "Motion Removal" button
  2. Set Up Your Shot: Mount camera on tripod, frame composition
  3. Configure Capture Settings (optional): Frame count (7-15 frames), capture interval
  4. Capture the Sequence: Press shutter button, keep camera completely still
  5. Processing: Images are aligned, motion detected and removed automatically

Best Practices

Troubleshooting

Moving objects still visible: Increase motion sensitivity, capture more frames (10-15), ensure camera is completely static

Static elements incorrectly removed: Decrease motion sensitivity, ensure consistent lighting

Processing takes a long time: Normal for high-resolution images (1-3 minutes for 7 frames)
